Wound healing of the hoof and distal limb
In all species, including man, healing of the extremities is most difficult, therefore we have chosen this theme.
- Wednesday May 6th: we had organized the Equine Wound Centre meeting for our acknowledged Equine Wound Centres, and members and persons interested to become one.
- Thursday May 7th, we have focused on wound healing of the equine foot. We have discussed specific hoof disease, such as canker, keratoma, heel bulb laceration, coronary band dystrophia, pastern dermatitis and street nail injuries.
- Friday May 8th, we have focused on wound healing of the canine and feline distal limb, and how to preserve four limbs. We have started with specific wound aetiologies and moved onto antiseptics and wound bed preparation and discussed reconstructive techniques for the digits, antebrachium and crus.
All days have shown practical tips for success, as well as prudent anti-microbial use for wounds, research updates and abstract presentations.

The Conference was a great success: the attendance was great and the atmosphere was good and we had nice discussions. Sponsors had their stands just outside the room, which resulted in a vivid interaction between companies and the audience during the breaks.
