International Conference of the Veterinary Wound healing Association (VWHA) at
EWMA-GNEAUPP 26-27 March 2025
The theme this year was:
“Practical approach of traumatic wounds in horses and small animals: How to promote healing and reduce antimicrobial resistance”
This year’s conference was held in Barcelona, Spain in collaboration with AVEE and AVEPA. It was all about the practical approach on the treatment of wounds and how they influence largely the way of healing.
Two days full of woundhealing, this year both the equine and small animal lectures were mixed on both wednesday and thursday.
We have presented about emergencies, acute wounds and how to treat chronic wounds with the use of antiseptics, dressings and topical products. Additionally, we elaborated on surgical solutions to heal wounds with skin grafting techniques and/or reconstructive surgery.
On friday we have had a session on the Equine Wound Centre. The Equine Wound Centre project is a new initiative to create a network of wound centres, to allow access to specialized wound treatment for each patient, each owner in each country and to create a base for discussion, collaboration and knowledge sharing, stimulating the interest and level of wound management.
